Nitrate Online ("we", "us", "the site") is an archive of film criticism published between 1996 and 2004, available at nitrateonline.com. We take a minimal, privacy-first approach: the site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and our analytics do not identify you or follow you across the web.
Information We Collect
- Privacy-first analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures aggregate traffic — page views, referrers, general region, and device or browser type. It is cookieless, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track you across other websites. No personal information is collected or sold.
- Server and security logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the pages you request, and timestamps in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Fonts. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's request (including IP address) in order to serve the font files.
Cookies
We do not use cookies to track you, build a profile, or serve advertising. Because our analytics are cookieless, there is no tracking to opt out of. If you still prefer, your browser's privacy settings and tracker-blocking extensions will work normally on this site, and the archive functions fully without any cookies.
Your Rights
Because we do not collect information that identifies you, we hold no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. Depending on where you live you may still have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; if you have any question about your data, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law. We do not sell personal information.

The archive links to external websites (for example, other film resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; this policy applies only to Nitrate Online.

The site is a general-audience archive and is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
